Dog Days of Summer

While I know there are plenty of summer days left here in Maryland, knowing we will have 80 degree days through at least the end of September, I can’t help but to think that summer is coming to an end. As I mentioned in my post earlier this month, my focus is making the most of these few, albeit, hot days while I can. That may be easier said than done when the muggy, humid temperatures outside can make it anything but pleasant. On the days when it seems too hot to breathe, I find myself stuck in between the yearning for cooler days and the state of panic for all the things that I haven’t done yet this season.

I adore the summer season, but I too find the humid and sultry days as annoying as everyone else. Before the season ends, I am determined to enjoy the long sunny days, dips in the pool, and evenings on the patio, but not without a little help. In the spirit of soaking up the rest of the best things summer has to offer, I wanted to share a few of the things that has made these warm days a bit more enjoyable!

Staying hydrated is definitely key to surviving these hot summer days, but sometimes plain water just doesn’t cut it. That’s why I love Liquid IV – this hydration drink mix contains electrolytes to help keep you hydrated and comes in variety of great flavors! My favorite flavors are Acai Berry and Passionfruit. I usually mix a Hydration Multiplier packet in my water bottle and toss in my bag on the way to the pool or beach. It is also great to drink after a few summer cocktails! You can find Liquid IV at Amazon, Target and Walmart or order directly from their website, if you want to create a bundle!

I spotted this darling bag earlier this summer on Glitter and Gingham and just had to have it. This Monogram Jute Carryall bag is perfect for the beach, pool, or even a trip to the farmer’s market. The material is lightweight, making the bag easy to carry, and shake off any sand that may appear. The colors of the monogram are customizable and there are so many variations. Just add my towel, sunblock, and a good read and I’m set for a day at the pool! It honestly is my favorite purchase of the summer!

There is something so nice about sandal season. It takes me back to childhood summers of running barefoot in the grass, jumping through the sprinkler, and occasionally forgetting my shoes as we’d hop in the car to go somewhere. Wearing sandals is a close second to going barefoot in that they provide breathability and comfort throughout the summer months. My Jack Rogers have always been my tried-and-true summer sandal (I have these, these and these), but this year, I’ve been loving the comfortability of these knotted bow sandals, espadrille slides, and my braided rainbows.

When the temperature gets too hot to handle, I like to treat myself to a homemade popsicle. I bought this mold from Amazon last summer and completely forgot about it until a few weeks ago! Aside from the tasty treat, it also is a fun and easy activity that truly exudes all summery vibes. I made Jody and I Peach Prosecco popsicles inspired by a refreshing sorbetto float we had in Seattle.

Of course, I can’t forget summer isn’t complete without a glass of chilled rose! My go-to has always been Miraval, but I’ve also loved the Wolffer Estate Summer in a Bottle this summer. The floral label on the bottle itself reflects the season too!

What are your summer essentials? I’d love to hear how you spend your last weeks of summer! Share with me, if you’d like, in the comments below!
