Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, y’all! I hope you have a full weekend ahead of doing all things fall in this crisp autumn (winter-like) weather. Jody and I are hosting friends for a Flannel Party and I’m so glad the weather decided to adapt to our party’s theme!

I haven’t shared any of my favorites in a while, so I thought that I would take a minute to tell you about some of the things that I have been loving on recently.

Favorite Recipe: It is no secret that I love Trader Joe’s, and I promise that not all of my favorite recipes will be from there. However, today’s still is (sorry, not sorry). I honestly wasn’t expecting to love their Cauliflower Gnocchi as much as I do, but y’all, this is as close to the doughy goodness as you’re going to get, without being the real thing. I’ve cooked these several different ways, all of which takes less than 15 minutes, but my go-to way has been to cook it and stir in a little Vodka Sauce (which I also picked up from TJ’s) and top with a little parmesan cheese. Quick, easy and healthier — my kind of dinner!

Favorite Nail Polish: Essie is one of my favorite nail polish brands, so naturally my favorite nail polish this month is from them! I picked up a bottle of “Mink Muffs” a few weeks back and have been wearing it all fall. It is a shade of brown with a hint of grey, which manages to match most of my outfits. It’s such a great color, I might just wear it until it is time to pull out the red and sparkly for the holidays!

Favorite Playlist: After listening to several different fall playlists on Spotify, I eventually decided to make my own with songs I heard on other lists. There is something about the vibe that fall music brings us — for me, it makes me think of the cozy coffee shop where I spent many November Saturdays in college. The music is a little slower which makes me truly appreciate the calmness that the fall brings. If you think I’m missing any definite fall songs, let me know!

Favorite Read: This fall, one of my goals was to simplify routines, stuff in our house, and life in general. Jody and I have had such a busy fall, in which we’ve had a lot less time with one another so I wanted to be sure that we were being intentional with the downtime that we did have. I have been a fan of Emily Ley for a few years and decided to check this book off my 2018 Reading List while I was in the process of getting rid of the stuff that we never use. If you are looking for a feel-good, somethings-got-to-change encourager, read this. Each chapter ends with five Simplifying Challenges that you can go do right away. Admittedly, I have not simplified every aspect of my life yet (it’s a process!) but I can feel the difference in the parts that I already have.

Favorite Binge: This time of year especially, I love watching shows on TV that reflect the current or upcoming season. At the beginning of fall, I thought “What show is gives all the fall feels?” and the first thing that popped in my head was Gilmore Girls. I used to watch this show all of the time years ago, and it has been so fun to rewatch all of the episodes in order. After all, Stars Hollow would be the perfect little town to spend a Saturday in the fall!
