If you don’t remember, my absolute favorite space at our newlywed apartment was our screened-in porch. It was so cozy and I spent so many mornings and evenings out there. When we bought our current house, I was so anxious to style our back patio so I could once again have my cozy oasis.
I’ve been searching for inspiration for the past few months, and now that it’s finally warming up, I’m ready to complete this space. I knew I wanted to update my patio furniture, now that we have more space, and toyed between staying with the teak/Acadia wooden furniture, or investing in a wicker conversation set. I found some sets that have a little of both, and I’m realizing I like that mix-matched look, especially for how plain our backyard currently is.
I’m planning on splitting up our patio into two spaces: the lounging area and the dining. I originally planned on getting a sectional for our outdoor space, but decided I liked the flexibility of having multiple pieces that I could move around and restyle. I’ve found a number of sets that I like, but I am struggling to find something in my price range and currently in stock (Your girl has expensive tastes!). I think I’ve narrowed it down and hope to have something ordered in the next few days! As for our dining space, I’m planning on getting another wooden table, similar to our current one, but one that’s a bit larger so that we can fit more people. I know it may be some time before it is just more than Jody and I eating out there, but I can’t let Coronavirus kill all of my dining al fresco dreams!
Overall, my style is still farmhouse, with a bit of a coastal/modern vibe to it. I love the look of the wooden accents and think they will pop nicely against our house, but the wicker and rattan material add such a fun, lighthearted feel – what screams summer nights more than that?! Once furniture is purchased, I will definitely be adding some throw pillows, a rug, and an umbrella, at Jody’s request. Eventually, we hope to build a pergola and hang string lights from it, adding even more to that cozy vibe I’m envisioning. Here’s a peek at some of my inspiration for our back patio space!

We finally got a 4 piece conversation set last year and got it for a steal at Lowes. We got it in the store for only $500 which was less than the $1,100 online price. Of course we bought it home in the truck during a March snow storm. We love it!!! We also bought solar twinkle rope lights the the deck railing. A perfect spot for relaxing, entertaining and enjoying a morning latte. Can’t wait to see what yours will look like!
