I still can’t believe, as I’m typing this, that our Delaney Margaret celebrated her first birthday two weeks ago! The sentiment that the days are long but the years are short proves to be true with each passing season.

To mark the occasion—and perhaps to make up for my lack of attention to this little corner of the internet—I wanted to share a few of my favorite images from Delaney’s newborn photo session. Even in this busy, challenging, and fleeting season, I’m constantly reminded of the pure joy that comes with welcoming a new baby. These photos hold such a special place in my heart. Unlike Emerson’s newborn session, for a multitude of reasons, this one felt calm and pure—almost heavenly. Watching Emerson’s innocence and curiosity as she viewed her baby sister, experiencing another newborn with fresh eyes and a newfound confidence I didn’t have the first time around, and feeling our little family so grounded in love made that season feel like Heaven on earth—a snapshot of joy I’ll always hold close.
